Sarah Lazarewicz

Individual & Couples Therapist, LICSW, MSW

Hello and welcome to my website! Here you will find more information about me, my psychotherapy practice and my services. Come on in!

Meet Sarah! (she/her/hers)

My Approach:

I believe therapy can be a space to try on new ways of thinking and being, building insight and self-awareness so you can overcome blocks to creating the life you deeply desire. You can expect me to work hard to understand you and your history, offering an equal mix of nurturing, education and clear sighted perspective. We’ll work together to chart a vision for the road ahead, noting areas for growth, needed skills, and current strengths and resources.

In session, and in life, my style is informal, warm, playful and compassionate. I bring a body-positive, sex-positive, feminist and anti-oppressive lens to my work. I am a LGBTQIA+ affirming provider, and enjoy working with queer, trans and gender creative clients. I view the work of personal transformation as part of the larger task of transforming society, and I particularly enjoy working with activists, community organizers, and those working for a better world.

My Training:

Individual Therapy- The primary model I draw from in my individual therapy work is a comprehensive, trauma informed model known as the Nueroaffective Relational Model (NARM). NARM is one of very few models designed to specifically address Complex PTSD and Developmental Trauma, and is focused heavily on bringing curiosity, agency and consent to the therapeutic space. NARM is a relatively new, innovative model that draws from a long history of psychological lineages, including somatic (body based) approaches, as well as more traditional psychoanalytic models. Personally, I have found it has allowed me and my clients to access much deeper, more nuanced material than any other model I have received training on, which is why I primarily utilize this model with clients at this time.

You can learn more about the NARM and its founder, Lawrence Heller, here: https://narmtraining.com/what-is-narm/

Another model I frequently incorporate in session is Somatic Experiencing, a body-oriented modality aimed at addressing the physical as well as cognitive aspects of trauma. I have completed the Level 2/Intermediate training through the Somatic Experiencing International Institute.

Other approaches I draw from include: Pia Mellody’s Post-Induction Therapy (PIT) model, parts work/Internal Family Systems, modern attachment theory and interpersonal neurobiology. I also regularly incorporate elements of mindfulness and meditation in my sessions with clients.

Couples Therapy - For couples work, I have completed The Gottman Institute’s Level 1 Professional Training. The Gottman Method is an emotion focused, practical approach to couples therapy, and is based on the research and clinical experience of Drs. John and Julie Gottman. For more information about The Gottman Method, check out their website: (https://www.gottman.com/about/the-gottman-method/

My Background & Experience:

I earned my master's degree Clinical Social Work from St. Catherine University in 2016, and am currently registered as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of Minnesota. I have worked in a variety of community mental health and outpatient settings, and have been in private practice since 2020.
